Rain in July...is almost as rare as Christmas in July around these parts. Nevertheless it's what we woke up to this morning. You could see it coming on last night; I left the house just after sunset to go to the grocery store and was greeted by humid air and a huge rainbow in the sky. The weatherman on the radio is calling it "Monsoon moisture," whatever that means. I believe the Southern California climate is classified as
subtropical desert -- a phrase I've always found pleasing since it's such a contradiction in terms -- and we're living up to the subtropical part today.
